This module will introduce students to ancient philosophy, by focusing on some specific and important areas within the broad tradition of ancient Greek philosophy. The aim will be to make ancient philosophical thought come alive for students, and to encourage active philosophical engagement with writings and ideas from the ancient Greek world. The module will not be an historical survey course. Rather, students will concentrate on philosophically significant topics drawn from some of the Presocratic philosophers, or Plato, or Aristotle.
